PROCESS FOR PRODUCING XYLOOLIGOSACCHARIDES

PURPOSE: A process for producing xylooligosaccharides is provided, thereby effectively producing high quality xylooligosaccharides having high content of xylose disaccharides and trisaccharides from xylan-containing vegetable materials. CONSTITUTION: A process for producing xylooligosaccharides comprises the steps of: (a) dipping xylan-containing vegetable materials in water, followed by explosion treatment at 160 to 220 deg. C for 3 to 30 minutes; (b) adding water into the explosion treated materials to prepare slurry and separating a crude saccharide solution from the slurry using a solid-liquid separator; (c) centrifuging the crude saccharide solution and filtering the supernatant with a 0.1 to 5 micrometer of micro-membrane filter; and (d) passing the filtered solution through the ion exchange resin to obtain decolorized saccharide solution and concentrating it, wherein the xylan-containing vegetable material is selected from the heart of corn, cottonseed meal, rice straw, sugar cane husk, cereal husk, bran and wood.
