PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for generating feed voltage for an ink jet head are provided to stably operate the ink jet head by protecting a voltage feeding transistor from instantaneous over current. CONSTITUTION: A feed voltage generating apparatus for an ink jet head includes a level detecting section(10), a feed control section(12), a capacitor, a plurality of resistors, a third transistor(16), a main control section(30), a comparator(32), and a display section(34). A first transistor(14) allow current to be supplied to the ink jet print head in response to a control voltage generated from the feed control section(12). The first transistor(14) includes a bipolar transistor. The level detecting section(10) detects a level of a feed voltage generated from the first transistor(14) and output a detected voltage to the feed control section(12).
