PURPOSE: A sprocket for a chain drive-type timing device is provided to use the existing double-row chains without a change in the length of a chain bush and dispose a shock-absorbing unit for the absorbing the shock of the chain on the sides of each tooth row. CONSTITUTION: In a sprocket(10) for a chain drive-type timing device, plural rows of tooth(10a) to which plural rows of chain are settled are formed to the outer periphery. The sprocket comprises a shock-absorbing ring(101) combined to the outside of the outermost tooth row, with clearance, to support the chain engaged with the tooth, and an O-ring(104) of an elastic material absorbing shock of the chains engaged with tooth rows of both sides between tooth rows. The O-ring is fitted into a fixing groove(10b) formed between tooth rows.
