PURPOSE: A shift lever assembly for a vehicle is provided to facilitate assembling work of a change lever and a knob, restrain relative rotation of the change lever and the knob, and prevent lowering of the shifting operation feeling. CONSTITUTION: A shift lever assembly for a vehicle comprises a change lever(20) forming fitting projections(22) to the upper part; a knob(30) forming an insertion part(35) in an insert(34) filled in the inside to form a frame; and a fitting plate(40) forming a fitting groove(40a). The fitting projection is protruded in the radial direction. The upper part of the change lever is inserted in the insertion part in the axial direction. The fitting plate is installed to axially divide the insertion part of the knob. The fitting groove is formed to a part axially corresponding to the insertion part, to make the fitting projection fitted by elastic force in a mutual separating direction of the knob and the change lever.
