PURPOSE: A valve timing adjustment device is provided to obtain excellent durability and to successively control a phase change of a slave shaft with respect to a driving shaft, with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION: A valve timing adjustment device(10) is arranged to an electromotive system transmitting driving torque of a driving shaft of an internal combustion engine(2) to a slave shaft(4) operating to open and shut at least one of a suction valve and an exhaust valve. The valve timing adjustment device adjusts the opening and shutting timing of at least one of the suction valve and the exhaust valve. The valve timing adjustment device comprises a rotating member rotating around an axis of the slave shaft by the driving torque of the driving shaft and having an internal gear concentric to the axis of the slave shaft; an eccentric shaft(18) eccentric to the axis of the slave shaft, to rotate around the axis of the slave shaft by the rotation of the rotating member; a planetary gear(30) rotating around the axis of the slave shaft by the rotation of the rotating member by engaging with the internal gear; an output shaft(22) rotating around the axis of the slave shaft integrally with the slave shaft by the rotation of the planetary gear by engaging with the planetary gear; an action shaft(72) connected to the eccentric shaft, to rotate around the axis of the slave shaft integrally with the eccentric shaft; and an electromagnetic unit producing electromagnetic fields along the outer periphery of the action shaft by the supply of an electric current and applying first torque acting in a direction opposite to the rotating direction of the action shaft and second torque acting in the rotating direction of the action shaft.
