PURPOSE: A method and a system for distinguishing a spam mail are provided to precisely intercept the spam mail by judging the spam mail through the link with other mail server. CONSTITUTION: A mail signature receiver(101) receives the mail signature from a plurality of mail servers(110-1¯110-n). The mail signature is generated by extracting a predetermined part from mail contents and converting it into the data having a constant length. A mail signature database(102) stores the received mail signature and a reception frequency of each mail signature. A statistics information transmitter(103) transmits the statistics information for the mail signature stored in the main signature database to the mail server. A mail signature remover(104) removes the information for the mail signature passing a predetermined time after receiving the mail signature by checking a reception time of the mail signature updated to the mail signature database.
