PURPOSE: An apparatus for forming projection on pipe expansion type rivet is provided to form a projection for preventing secession of the rivet from the sheet materials and solidly closely adhering the rivet to the sheet materials on the pipe expansion type rivet by strongly pressing two sheet materials from up and down, thereby bonding them. CONSTITUTION: In an apparatus for forming a projection on pipe expansion type rivet having head and shank, the apparatus comprises a die(100) comprising a rivet receiving groove having a shorter length than the pipe expansion type rivet, and a projection receiving groove communicated with the rivet receiving groove; and a punch(200) for forming the projection on the shank by hitting the pipe expansion type rivet received into the river receiving groove of the die, wherein the die comprises a die housing(110) having cylinder(111); a guide block(120) arranged in such a way that the guide block is movable to the cylinder of the die housing; a rivet receiving block(130) which is movably arranged in front of the guide block facing the punch, and on which the rivet receiving groove is formed; and a supporting block(140) which is movably arranged in the guide block so that the supporting block supports the rivet receiving block and comprises the projection receiving groove, wherein the punch has a hitting surface(214) for hitting the head of the pipe expansion type rivet, and a head receiving groove(211) for receiving the head of the pipe expansion type rivet is formed on the hitting surface, wherein the apparatus further comprises a means for transferring the pipe expansion type rivet to the die and returning the punch to the original position, and wherein the apparatus further comprises a means for stripping the projection formed pipe expansion type rivet from the die.
