PURPOSE: A valve device is provided to reduce noise at the generation of a valve in a hermetic compressor. CONSTITUTION: A compression space(32) is formed in a cylinder(30). A valve plate(50) switches the compression space. A damping hole(54) is installed around a suction hole(52) in the valve plate. The damping hole is a part to be contacted to a suction valve(40) when the suction valve to switch the suction hole hits the valve plate. The damping hole is installed in a recessed groove(53) in the valve plate and protruded more than the surface of the valve plate. The damping hole is formed by a ring shaped rubber material. Thereby, noise by an operating valve is minimized.
