PURPOSE: An initial synchronization method of a mobile communication system is provided to easily process the initial synchronization search of the mobile communication system by performing the correlation for only a few samples. CONSTITUTION: An initial synchronization method of a mobile communication system includes the steps of: a first step(SP1) of reading the base band data and the synchronization code; a second step(SP2) of operating the correlation value by using the base band data and the synchronization code; and a third step(SP4) of determining the data position having the maximum value among the correlation value operated at the second step(SP2) as a synchronization position.
