The protective hood is made from a textile material (2) with rear (A), side (B) and top (C) zones, and has a collar (D) that can be fastened to a garment. The side zones (B) have panels (6) of a supple and transparent material, at least in line with the wearer's eyes, extending from the front open edge (E) of the hood to a rear point attached to the textile side. The transparent panel is made in one piece that extends from one side of the hood to the other over the top of the wearer's head, with the connecting zone (7) between the transparent and side panels lying in front of the wearer's ears and curved down towards the front edge near the neck.
