PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring the distance between vehicles are provided to stably measure the distance from the front vehicle on the slope way. CONSTITUTION: A method for measuring the distance between vehicles includes the steps of: receiving(S210) the road image of the front view from the image camera; extracting(S215) the traffic lane from the road image; controlling(S220) the radar illumination angle to control the illumination angle of the radar based on the extracted lane; and calculating the distance from the front vehicle by using the reflected light of the illuminated radar beam with the controlled illumination angle.
