PURPOSE: A manual mode detecting device of an automatic transmission for a vehicle is provided to improve convenience by detecting the manual mode in a knob of a shift lever by a hand of a driver. CONSTITUTION: A manual mode detecting device of an automatic transmission comprises a detecting hole(102) forming an upper part at the side of a lever knob(100) and communicating a lower part; a rod extension hole(203) integrated with the detecting hole and vertically formed in an upper lever stick(200); a rod(104) moving one end in and out of the detecting hole according to the manual mode, bending and containing the other end in the rod extension hole, and indicating the manual mode to a driver with seesawing; a spring(105) connecting to the rod and applying restoring and rising force to the rod according to the selected manual mode; and a placing roller(106) installed in the other end of the rod, seated on a placing groove(302) formed in the upper part of the lower lever, and moved according to the selected manual mode.
