New peptide fragments of the heparin-affine regulatory protein, useful for treating tumors and other angiogenesis-related disorders, also nucleic acid encoding them for gene therapy

Peptides (I) consisting of amino acids (aa) 13-39 or 65-97 of HARP (heparin-affine regulatory peptide), are new. Independent claims are also included for: (1) peptide (Ia) having an aa sequence at least 80% similar to (I), able to inhibit angiogenesis and able to bind GAG (glycosaminoglycan); (2) nucleic acid (II) that encodes (I) or (Ia); and (3) producing (I) or (Ia) by chemical synthesis or recombinant expression.
