A packaging apparatus enables a product (300) to be scanned byscanning apparatus (302) and moved by a pivotal conveyor (122)onto a platen (103A), adjustable in size by a sizing apparatus (108),before the platen (103A) with the product (300) is moved into abag (304) which has been opened out to a required extent by a bagholding means (109). The platen (103A) can then be inverted forthe discharge of the bagged product (301) onto an exit conveyor (123).
