A method for treating a COX-2 related disorder comprises administering to a patient pharmaceutically acceptable synthetic, semi-synthetic or natural bodies having a three-dimensional core structure of conformation and size corresponding to mammalian apoptotic cells and/or bodies and expressing or expressible on the surface thereof a ligand selected from, phosphatidylserine, phosphatidylinositol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidic acid, distearoylphosphatidylserine, dipalmitoylphosphatidylserine, cholesterol, sphingomyelins, or combinations thereof, capable of effectively reducing the COX-2 expression in the mammalian patient.
