The electrical machine has two annular end plates (30,32) made of a magnetic material, placed coaxially with the rotor shaft. Between the end plates a succession of magnets are distributed round the periphery of the rotor (4) forming a sequence of magnetized zones of alternating polarity. Each magnet is formed from an independent component (44) which is fixed (46) to the rotor.
