The invention relates to the use of a composition comprising at least one conducting polymer in a cosmetically-acceptable medium in a form which is soluble in said medium, as or for the production of cosmetic products for imparting an optical effect on human keratin fibres, particularly hair and furthermore, when said conducting polymer absorbs in the visible region, use as or for the production of cosmetic products for colouring said fibres. The invention further relates to the corresponding method of treatment.
