Aminotriazine copolymers with improved water solubility, obtained by reacting 1-8C aldehydes with aminotriazines containing two amino or methoxymethylamino groups and one bis-(hydroxyalkyl)-imino group and/or triazines containing one amino or methoxymethylamino group and two hydroxyalkylamino groups. Aminotriazine copolymers with improved water-solubility (ATC), obtained by reacting 1-8C aldehydes with triazine derivative(s) containing bis-(hydroxyalkyl)-imino groups (formula (I)) and/or triazine derivative(s) with hydroxyalkylamino groups (formula (II)).
