The invention relates to a method of unmasking visual information present under a barely- or non-functional area in the visual field of the eye of a subject and to a device which is used to implement said method. The inventive method is characterised in that it consists in determining the position of the subject's visual field in the plane of the visual scene in order to detect the area(s) of the visual scene which are not perceived continuously or in real time, such that said area(s) of the visual scene can be moved from the barely- or non-functional area in the visual field and positioned in adjacent functional areas.
