<p>A fishing dredge (1) is provided in which the shellfish dredge (1) has a bag-like shellfish retaining belly (7) connected to a towing rig (2). The belly (7) has an open mouth (8) adjacent the towing rig (2). A rigid base (15) is mounted spaced-apart from the seabed (6), when in use, by spacer means (17) formed by two longitudinal runners (20). Thus, the base (15) forms a sleigh-like structure which greatly facilitates the protection of the seabed (6) and also the removal of undersize shellfish or non-target species.</p> |
