A method and system which allows for access to a legacy database over a network to be performed, in which private data pages are generated for each user in advance of the time when the user actually makes the request for the pages. In addition, the generated pages are provided with the facility to allow the user to indicate that a transaction process is to be performed, which may take place upon or using the data contained within the particular page which has provided the indication facility. An example transactions is an editing process, but other processes which can be performed on-lime can also be indicated by the user. Preferably, action buttons are provided on the page to allow the indication to be made. A corresponding page generation method and system which generates the pages is also disclosed.
