Within the outer wall (W) of the reactor (2), conveyor(s) continuously advance and turn over the material. A medium used to heat the materials indirectly, passes through the heating jacket formed between the outer wall and the conveyor casing (s). Optionally, there is an extractor (6) for gases and vapours liberated in the treatment. Depending on its composition and intended further use, this may be connected to a combustion and heating unit (7) on the outer wall (W), or to a condenser.
