<p>The invention is directed to a process for forming a coated paper having improved oil, grease and water resistance properties while being capable of being repulpable. The process comprises the steps of (a) applying a furnish to a wire and dewatering the furnish to form a paper; (b) pressing the paper of step (a) at least once; (c) calendaring the pressed paper; and, (d) applying to the paper, subsequent to the first pressing step, a non-ionic aqueous coating comprising (i) a polymeric component of acrylic or methacrylic acid and combinations thereof; (ii) at least one component selected from the group consisting of alkyl ketene dimer, alkylene ketene dimer, alkyl succinic anhydride and alkylene succinic anhydride; (iii) a cross-linking agent for the polymeric component; and (iv) water.</p> |
