NITROGEN-CONTAINING TITANIUM OXIDE-BASE PHOTOCATALYST AND METHOD OF PURIFYING ENVIRONMENTAL POLLUTANT GAS USING THE SAME

A nitrogen-containing titanium oxide-base photocatalyst which comprises nitrogen-containing titanium oxide crystals obtained by baking a titanium complex having a nitrogen-containing organic compound coordinated on a titanium atom and has a catalytic activity on light including visible rays. A method of purifying an environmental pollutant gas which comprises bringing an environmental pollutant gas containing a bad smelling substance, a nitrogen oxide or an organic substance into contact with the nitrogen-containing titanium oxide-base photocatalyst as described above under irradiation with light including visible rays to thereby decompose and eliminate the bad smelling substance, the nitrogen oxide or the organic substance via a chemical reaction.
