A fusion protein having the amino acid sequence of a marker protein and the amino acid sequence of a second protein so selected that it yields a predetermined mass and/or isoelectric point making the fusion protein suitable to represent a reference protein (landmark) in an analytical method as well as the method of using the fusion protein.
