PURPOSE: A power saving method of a mobile communication terminal is provided to reduce power consumption of a mobile terminal and increase a standby time by transmitting a PI(Paging Indicator) through a CPICH(Common PIlot CHannel). CONSTITUTION: Since a PI is inserted into a frame of a CPICH according to a DRX(Discontinuous Receive) period and then transmitted, a terminal checks the DRX period(S101) and searches the PI from the CPICH(S102). If the PI is set as '1'(S103), the terminal performs a demodulating on a S-CCPCH(Secondary Common Control Physical CHannel) after a certain time elapses, to receive a paging message(S104). Since the CPICH, rather than a PICH which is transmitted at the maximum power, power loss for transmission of the PICH can be reduced and thus a standby time of the terminal can be increased. |
