PCR-based method for typing of Haemophilus parasuis allows discrimination of H. parasuis from other bacteria present in the pig respiratory apparatus, and classification of H. parasuis serotype

A PCR-based technique for typing of Haemophilus parasuis, is new. The technique uses primers (SEQ ID Nos. 1 and 2) that amplify a genomic region with homology to the transferring binding protein A (tbpA) genes. The technique allows discrimination relative to Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae and Pasteurellacene strains present in the respiratory apparatus of the pig. The method permits classification 28 serotypes of H. parasuis.
