PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disaster prevention tile which dispenses with conventional battens, and satisfies all of the good wind resisting performance, good waterproofing properties, and good appearance thereof after the construction of a roof. SOLUTION: The flat tile which can be arranged on a roof substrate without laying a batten, has an engaging protrusion 16 formed on a tail-side flashing 11 of a roof body 2, and an engaging recess 19 formed in the end face of an insertion portion 8. Then a front surface engaging portion 17 is protruded from the front surface of a covered portion 7 near a tail 4, and a rear surface engaged portion is protruded from the rear surface of a head 3 about the lateral center thereof. Therefore when the tiles are laid in a zigzag pattern, only by engaging the engaging protrusions 16 with the engaging recesses 19 of the tile in upper and lower stages and by driving pantile fastening nails, the wind resisting performance of the tile is improved. By engaging the front surface engaging portion 17 with the rear surface engaged portion, the tile is positioned without the batten, and also improved in the appearance. In addition, even if rainwater flows along the surface of the tile at the time of raining, the rainwater does not infiltrate into a tile superposed portion, to thereby improve the waterproofing properties of the tile.
