PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable burner operation diagnosis device miniaturizing a combustion safety controller and reducing its costs and easily diagnosing the controller by making connection with the controller, and a method thereof. SOLUTION: This burner operation diagnosis device 1 has a connection part 11 for connecting with the combustion safety controller 3, a plurality of lamps 131-138 respectively turning on according to respective operation stages of combustion sequence operation of a burner 2, and a controlling part 12 capable of maintaining an input signal from the combustion safety controller 3 to the connection part 11 and respectively maintaining lighting states of the respective lamps 131-138 on the basis of the input signal. The burner operation diagnosis device 1 is constituted so as to diagnose progress state of the combustion sequence operation from lighting states of the respective lamps 131-138.
