PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to easily confirm whether there is a new message addressed to the user when using voice mail service without using a telephone set adaptive to a VMWI function. SOLUTION: A cable modem 10 confirms by a communication processor 40 a message indicating that voice mail addressed to the user among messages from a call agent 30 obtained through an RF port 44 is recorded on a voice mail server and blinks a VMWI-LED 54 when the message is recognized to let the user know the presence of the voice mail addressed to the user.
