PURPOSE: A host player system program upgrading method is provided to connect an external disc, storing upgrade codes, to a host player for upgrading a system program or recovering an error. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises several steps. A storage space of a connected external storage device is searched via a USB(Universal Serial Bus) and it is checked whether there exist upgrade codes at the storage space(ST220). It is checked whether the upgrade codes correspond to a product model of the host player, are a new version, and have data defects(ST240). Link data on a physical position where the upgrade codes exist within the external storage space is stored at a specific non-volatile memory space of the host player(ST235). The upgrade codes are executed for the system program(ST240). The storage space of the external storage device is accessed on a basis of the link data, the data on the upgrade codes is read and copied within the host player(ST250).
