PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new hair protecting agent which has much reduced hair damage by oxidation hair dye and more excellent hair touch after hair dyeing. SOLUTION: The hair protecting agent comprises a copolymer which contains a unit composed of cystine or its derivative, is combined with a silicon-excellent component and in which the silicon-containing component contains at least one siloxane bond in the copolymer.
