PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a braking device for a vehicle for starting control of a trailer by utilizing the actual condition of a roadway further. SOLUTION: In this method for controlling the braking device for a tractor-trailer combination 1, 2 composed of a tractor 1 and the trailer 2, a controller 11 provided in the tractor 1 causes automatic control start of the trailer 2. When friction coefficient between the tractor-trailer combination 1 and 2 or between the part and the roadway which is below the predetermined minimum value is detected, strength for starting braking of the trailer 2 can be reduced by the controller 11.
