PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress membrane fouling and to reduce not only the number of times of washing using chemicals but also equipment and a maintenance cost, in a water treatment method of a total amount filtering system including a membrane filtering process and a membrane module backwashing process. SOLUTION: The water treatment method of the total amount filtering system uses a membrane module 5 for filtering water and includes a process for forming a coating layer 2 comprising particles of inorganic matter on the surface of a filter membrane before performing the membrane filtering of water to be treated, and a process for performing the back pressure washing (backwashing) of the membrane module.
