PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent damage to a tip hood member and to reduce a sense of incongruity given to a patient. SOLUTION: A projecting part 10 of the tip hood member 9 mounted at the forward end part 3 of an endoscope 1 is formed by an elastically deformable soft member. The projecting part 10 is pressed to an observation object 13, and when the projecting part 10 is deformed by the force at that time, a part 10a enters an observation field range 12 so that an operator recognizes deformation of the projecting part 10, whereby the tip of the projecting part 10 is not pressed to the observation object 13 with the further force so as to reduce a sense of incongruity given to the patient. External force applied to the projecting part 10 is relieved by its own elastic deformation to prevent damage to the tip hood member. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
