PURPOSE: A refrigeration cycle system for rapid refrigeration and a control method thereof are provided to control evaporation temperature of an evaporator by using a plurality of expansion valves having different capacities in sequence, thereby rapidly refrigerating food. CONSTITUTION: A refrigeration cycle system for rapid refrigeration includes a plurality of expansion valves(3a-3c) for lowering pressure of liquefied refrigerant. The expansion valves are aligned in parallel to each other and have different capacities. The opening/closing of the expansion valves is controlled by a controller. The expansion valves are connected to a condenser(2) and an evaporator(4) via branches(5a,5b) of a pipe(5).
