<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control household appliances connected to a home network by using a GUI having amusement such as a virtual space. <P>SOLUTION: In a virtual room, a mascot 121 is present which autonomously moves in the room and visits virtual houses of other users on behalf of the user. Further, the virtual room is provided with a door icon 122 to be depressed when the mascot 121 is made to visit a user house of another user, a post icon 123 to be depressed when mail addressed to the user is received, a telephone icon 124 to be depressed to call (actually chat with) the member of the member group that the user belongs to, a PC icon 125 to be pressed to control a PC 12 present in the house of a user A, and a TV icon 126 to be pressed when a TV 13 present at the house of the user A is controlled.
