<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid external preparation having excellent antitussive effects and expectoration effects, preferably, the liquid external preparation having the excellent antitussive effects and expectoration effects, containing much essential oil components, stable without causing separation with the lapse of time, and providing good sense of use without containing ethanol, a macromolecular thickening agent or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid external preparation contains the essential oil components, a nonionic surfactant, a polyhydric alcohol and the water.
