PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed type battery in which volumetric efficiency is improved while securing safety sufficiently. SOLUTION: The sealed cylindrical lithium ion secondary battery 30 comprises a group of electrode wound bodies 11 housed in the center of a battery can 10, and an upper lid 20 is arranged at the top of the electrode wound bodies 11. The upper lid 20 has a saucer-shape diaphragm 2 and the bottom face in the center of the diaphragm 2 and the upper face in the center of the connecting plate are electrically and mechanically jointed by resistance welding interposing a splitter 4 of flat-doughnut shape along the diaphragm 2. The portion of the diaphragm 2 having the splitter 4 facing along and the splitter 4 is housed in the positive electrode current collector ring 14, and the outer periphery of the splitter 4 is supported by pawls at more than three locations on the inner face of the insulating ring. The portion of the diaphragm 2 having the splitter facing along where the outer periphery of the splitter 4 is arranged nearby the diaphragm 2 and the splitter 4 are dropped into the battery can 10.
