PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that event notification has to be efficiently managed in order to appropriately use a high performance and multiple-purpose SAN (storage area network). SOLUTION: A heterogeneous network includes a network related to hardware and software products from a plurality of vendors. The network includes a storage system configured to store data, a server configured to process requests, a switch for coupling the storage system and the server for data communication, and a network manager including an event dictionary to interpret an event message received from a device experiencing a failure.
