PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a question and answer device, etc., which has high accuracy and by which a user easily looks at an answer. SOLUTION: A question sentence in a natural language inputted by a user is subjected to a morphological analysis, etc., to extracts a word. A second word and an interrogative included in the extracted word are used to estimate an attribute with which an answer coincides with the question sentence should be provided. For example, when the question sentence is "What is the population of Afghanistan ?", an attribute with which the answer should be provided is "○○people (a numeral plus a cardinal number)". Then, a sentence including the extracted word and a word coinciding with the attribute of the answer is retrieved, and words provided with the attribute are extracted from the retrieved sentence as an answer candidate. Furthermore, the extracted answer candidates are accumulated on the basis of the number of overlapping times and preparing time and arranged and displayed in the order of the number of overlapping times and the preparing time.
