PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for the recovery of a polymer capable of recovering a polymer having low viscosity and low coagulant content from a polymer latex in high yield and efficiency by using a simplified apparatus and provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: A polymer is recovered from a latex of the polymer added with a coagulant by using an extruder disposing a screw in a barrel having a coagulation zone. The screw has a coagulation screw block formed in a region corresponding to the coagulation zone, and the coagulation screw block has two or more sets of the combination of a normal feed screw element and a reverse feed screw element. The apparatus for the recovery of the polymer is composed of an extruder having a screw placed in a barrel having a coagulation zone, the screw has a coagulation screw block, and the coagulation screw block has two or more sets of the combination of a normal feed screw element and a reverse feed screw element.
