PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire wound body inspection device and its method enabling determination of a wire wound body as a defective product or a good product with high precision and high efficiency. SOLUTION: The wire wound body 2 having a coil formed by winding a wire such as an insulation wire having predetermined length around a bobbin 3 is put on a displacement device 13 to rotate it around an axis of the bobbin 3, displace it in the vertical direction, and illuminate it by a lighting system 12 to image a surface of the coil by an image sensor 11. The obtained image is processed by an image processing device 14 to inspect for a reverse V-shaped projection having such height that exceeds abnormality of a link wire on an outer peripheral end face of an intermediate collar and exceeds allowance scope on the surface of the coil and presence or absence of inclined winding exceeding allowance scope on the surface of the coil.
