PURPOSE: A friction lining segment, a friction lining and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to reduce wear of the friction lining, and to extend the life span of the lining by forming holes in latch elements or latch grooves of the friction lining segments for relaxation of the lining in applying impact to corners near the lining segments. CONSTITUTION: A friction lining(3) of a friction disk(1) for a brake or a clutch is composed of friction lining segments(3.1,3.2,3.3). The friction lining segments comprise latch elements(4.1,4.2,4.3) arranged in the ends and grooves(5.1,5.2,5.3) arranged opposite to the latch elements in the other ends. Holes(8.1,8.2,8.3) are formed in regions(7.1,7.2,7.3) of the latch elements or the grooves arranged corresponding to the latch elements. The holes are bored in the latch elements or the latch grooves by milling, punching or cutting.
