OPTICAL RING NETWORK FOR BURST DATA COMMUNICATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical ring network for burst data communication.

SOLUTION: An optical ring network for burst data communication has a plurality of core nodes mutually connected through an optical fiber link. Each core node comprises a demultiplexer which demultiplexes a received optical signal to a plurality of channels, an add/drop part which drops a channel selected from among the channels, a multiplexer which multiplexes and outputs a plurality of channels received from the add/drop part, a branching part which branches part of each channel received from the demultiplexer, and a control unit which recognizes a destination of a frame included in each channel using the branched channels and outputs a control signal for dropping the selected channel to the add/drop part.
