PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for selecting a desired channel in a short time by operating channel-up/down keys. SOLUTION: Provided are: a means of sequentially switching channel numbers at a specified speed while the channel-up/down key is continuously pressed and superimposing them on the program picture of a broadcast channel selected directly before the channel-up/down key is pressed; and a means of selecting a broadcast channel corresponding to a channel number displayed at the moment when the channel-up/down key is released from continuous pressing.
