PURPOSE: A call disconnection preventing method in a WCDMA priority multi-mode terminal is provided to reduce call disconnection time by transmitting a pilot signal to a specific frequency band of a WCDMA cell to start a CDMA2000 modem of a terminal before call disconnection. CONSTITUTION: When a terminal is turned on, a WCDMA chip is first started, a voice call proceeds in the WCDMA mode, and a CDMA2000 cell in an adjacent boundary area continuously sends a specific signal to a WCDMA cell(S100,S101). It is determined whether the terminal is in a boundary area based on system information broadcast from a base station of a cell of a WCDMA area(S102). If the terminal is in the boundary area, when a strength of a specific signal reaches a certain value while the terminal is moving, a CDMA2000 modem is initiated(S103,S104). If the WCDMA signal becomes so feeble that the call is disconnected, the call is re-originated to the CDMA2000 by using the initiated CDMA2000 modem(S105,S106). |
