PURPOSE: A rotary engine is provided to prevent leakage of oil or pressure, to allow exhaust gas to be completely discharged, and to get higher power. CONSTITUTION: A rotating body(6) is installed in a cylindrical housing(2) having an intake chamber(32) and an exhaust chamber(34) formed on an inner wall thereof and a spark plug(36) installed on an inlet of the exhaust chamber to be rotated together with a rotary shaft(4). The rotating body has an actuating chamber(8) having a piston(12) guided by a guiding rod. The actuating chamber has an intake and exhaust port(14) having an opening and closing valve(16) and an opening and closing plate(18) installed thereto for opening and closing operation. The opening and closing plate opens and closes the intake and exhaust port to partition the exhaust chamber on explosion so that explosion is generated on a rear side of the exhaust chamber. An inside of the actuating chamber is connected with an air supply tube(24) through an air supply channel(22) opened and closed by the opening and closing valve. A guider(26) is protrusively formed on the housing, and placed on a center of the rotating body to guide the piston.
