摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverse dispersion fiber 10 having a relatively low fiber loss, a relatively low splice loss, and a relatively large effective mode-field area. <P>SOLUTION: The inverse dispersion fiber 10 is provided with a doped core region 11 with an index of refraction n<SB>1</SB>, a cladding region 15 with an index of refraction n<SB>2</SB>, and respectively, a trench region 12 provided with indices of refraction n<SB>3</SB>, n<SB>4</SB>, n<SB>5</SB>, and formed between the core region 11 and the cladding region 15, a first barrier region 13, and a second barrier region 14. The inverse dispersion fiber 10 in accordance with the preferred embodiment has a chromatic dispersion of approximately -44 picosecond/(nanometer-kilometer) and a relatively large effective core area Aeff, that is, for example, greater than approximately 30.0&mu;m<SP>2</SP>both at a wavelength of 1,550nm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
