PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying mechanism, capable of securely and stably carrying sheet type objects even when pushing pressure to the objects is small, and an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: This carrying mechanism 11 is provided with a flat pad 10 to transmit a driving force to a film F1 by moving in parallel to a carrying direction H while adding a prescribed force to the film F1, a reciprocating vertical motion mechanism to move the flat pad in parallel to the carrying direction, separate it from the film, and then retracting it in the opposite direction to the carrying direction so that it is returned to its original position, and a drive part to drive the reciprocating vertical motion mechanism.
